An easy day trip from Oaxaca city, Teotitlan de Valle is the rug weaving town. You can visit the artisans in their home workshops to see the rug weaving in action. We were also able to see the dying process and many studios offer natural dying workshops. Watch out for cattle crossings!

Centro de las Artes de San Agustin.

Centro de las Artes de San Agustin.

The Centro de las Artes de San Agustin is an amazing place. It was formerly a textiles factory that had remained empty for many years. Located in a lovely mountain town outside of Oaxaca, it has incredible historic architecture and beautiful grounds. While at the center, we visited a contemporary exhibit on Shibori techniques with showcasing artists from around the world. The exhibit was part of the 10th International Shibori Symposium which includes workshops and talks with the artists.
