Opportunity for Autumn Riches

Darby Cape Blue

Darby Cape Blue

After finishing this Darby Cape Blue 8'x 10', we had some extra warp so we created new color ways. These  two new guys, Darby Bronze Lapis and Darby Smoke have rich, winter colors.

The vertical warp yarns play a more active roll when you have a dark background color. We love the sparkle of gold.

One of a Kind

We are really excited about this unique and creative project that we just finished! We started with a Photoshop rendering because we don't have a sample for every pattern and every color contained in this rug.

Once the client approved the rendering, we printed it for the weavers to help guide them along as they were weaving. We started with dark shades as per the image.

We used a consistent beige color for the background and varied the pattern colors. We also used some grey and brown yarns that were either discontinued or leftover from past projects.

This adds to the beauty because there are so many different shades and colors throughout the whole piece. It also makes it impossible to reproduce exactly. See all the colors of grey on the shuttles below.

The intersection of patterns and colors are a bit of surprise because the rug can never match the rendering. There are over 2000 different colors of yarn in the finished rug.

This rug was commission by Maplecraft for the BIA Parade of Homes.

Aqua Waves of Color

This week in the studio, we made a new rug for Connecticut! The pattern is a style from the days of Lark Textile Design but the color is new. I really like the shiny yellow gold yarns in the weft - pattern.
